The Story of the IODE Butter Tart
IODE Margaret Stokes Chapter has been making butter tarts since 1998 as a fundraiser. We now make over 800 dozen (9,600 individual tarts) a year. In the spring, you can pre-order them with your choice of plain syrup, nuts, raisins or a combination of nuts and raisins. Each tart is handmade as shown in the pictures below. Watch for our ads!
During special days throughout the year we sell tarts at the Petrolia Farmers' Market. Be there early because 100 dozen is usually sold within an hour. The cost this year is $15 /dozen. Proceeds from the tarts support our education awards at all local schools (see education pages for the list) and many community projects. Thank you for your support!
